Brett McEntagart was born in Dublin and studied Art at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire and Colorado University, USA, where he was awarded a Masters of Fine Art. In 1977 he was elected an associate of the Royal Hibernian Academy leading to full membership in 1980. Serving as secretary of the Academy from 1982 to 1987, Brett resigned to spend a year painting in France and was re-elected to the post again. He has also served on the National Gallery of Ireland’s Board of Governors.
Brett also taught for many years at the National College of Art and Design and was head of the Printmaking Department there. He now concentrates on his work and exhibits regularly in Dublin and throughout Ireland and has also shown in France, the UK and the USA. He travels regularly to Europe on painting expeditions and much of his inspiration is derived from the Mediterranean landscape.

Works in oils, watercolour and etching. Influences Barbizon school, impressionists and post impressionists. Primarily landscape imagery, Ireland, France and Greece.
